As a young man, Harry Day worked at Shrub Hill railway station for the Oxford and Worcester Railway Co. and at Paddington when the Oxford and Worcester became part of the GWR. Later he worked as Secretary to the Worcester Engine Works and Worcester Wagon Works. Ultimately he headed his own firm of chartered accountants.

A keen churchman he was closely associated throughout his life with Angel Street Congregational Church. He became a Council Member for the All Saint’s Ward in 1882 and worked on the education committee.

He was Chairman of the Libraries and Museum Committee. He died in 1910 at age 70.
